Riley McMitchell
Praised
for his “resonant and lyrical singing” (Opera Canada), baritone, Riley
McMitchell, is equally comfortable in opera, oratorio, concert, gospel and
musical theatre repertoire.
He
holds Bachelor’s degrees from UBC in Opera Performance and SFU in
Education.
In a
recent performance as Ben in The Telephone, Review Vancouver hailed
his “rich and lyrical baritone’. He has participated in two seasons of
Opera Nuova and performed roles throughout Germany and the Czech Republic
including Guglielmo in Cosi fan Tutte, Papageno in Die Zauberflote and the
Count in Le Nozze di Figaro.
He has been heard on CBC radio in concert and newly commissioned opera.
When not singing Riley teaches elementary school and is pursuing a Masters degree in Education
Riley is excited to be taking over as Artisitic Director of Opera Pro Cantanti from founder Richard Williams. He is thrilled to be working with such a passionate, supportive group of singers.
